Molstrom is the captain of The Pirates and the main antagonist in Owlboy.
Origin[]
Molstrom was created by the Ancient Owls, specifically Aegolius, as a war machine. A few centuries after the Ancient Owls disappeared, his violent programming drove him to want to destroy everything. He formed The Pirates, and recruited many other automatons under a "join or die" ultimatum.
Personality[]
Molstrom is an arrogant and selfish being with a "might makes right" philosophy. As a perversion of his original programming, he craves destruction and power, regardless of who gets hurt in the process.
He is also implied to be a bit lazy as he refuses to do work that he finds beneath him.
While by no means stupid, his ego makes him easy to manipulate, as proven by Solus.
When he discovered that Solus duped him, he flew into a maniacal rage in which he was so full of vengeance that he was willing to kill Solus knowing full well that the world would be destroyed in the process. It is possible that he over-estimated himself so much that he thought he would survive even if the world did not.
The Battle of Advent[]
During the Battle of Advent, Molstrom lead The Pirates aboard his Dreadnought in search of the second Owl Relic. Using his Anchor, Molstrom was able to split the entire capital city of Advent in half, causing the remaining survivors to flee to the nearby Vellie and Tropos.
Death[]
Like a lot of Villains he ended up being destroyed by the power he sought. Molstrom interrupted Solus's attempt to complete the Anti-Hex in order to exact revenge upon him and take back the Relics. Solus gave the Relics to Otus before Molstrom could take them, and Otus was able to complete the Anti-Hex. Molstrom underestimated the power of the Anti-Hex and threatened to destroy it before it fully activated and disintegrated him.
